rear smoked light cover for 86 cougar

The smoked plastic cover for my passenger side rear light assembly was a little loose and it fell off somewhere recently. I can't really drive the car until I find one. :'(

Is there anything else that will fit if I can't find that one?

You can't drive the car until you find one?????????????
Why not it's just a cover?????
You can't replace them so you need a tail lamp assy.

Maybe the rules are different here in Canada but I'll get a $175 fine if I drive the car without that cover on the lights.
I know I need the whole assembly now. It's going to be a pain.

lens DO pop on and off housing. As long as the housing is still good all you need is the lens as stated. Might want to remove the smoked part, as all lenses had that smoked look and people might confuse that with you needed something else.

Hmm. I was under the impression that I couldn't just replace the lens, that I had to replace the whole thing.
I also thought only some models had the smoked lens.
I'll try asking for something different. thnx

You can't just replace the lens unless you have the old one,then you could glue it back on,but you don't as stated.
Is the coloured part of the lamp still there,if so it is 100% legal,if not i do see your point as the bright bulbs showing would be a distraction.
However what you are looking for is a tail lamp, you should easily be able to get one off of one of the members here.
Change your thread title to need a tail lamp and you may have more luck,need a cover sounds like an aftermarket piece.
Not sure which side you need but there are pass and drivers sides up on ebay right now.
Search 1985 cougar light and they will come up.
Kind of pricey but if you need it you need it.

I'm not at home for another week or I'd take a pic. The whole plastic lens fell off and the set of 4 bulbs are exposed.

Yes, the part I need is on ebay. and yes, quite expensive. The ad also says it only ships to the US, so I'd have to check on that. I'm in Canada. Thanks for looking, that may be the only way I'll get one.

OMG! We just got back into town today after 2 weeks of camping and I thought I should take a ride on my bike just to have one last look for my tail light lens before I paid $90 US for the one on ebay AND I FOUND IT! I'm sooo happy. Somebody had propped it up against a tree. It has a crack in it but is otherwise perfectly usable. yah!

Cool, I know a guy who lost his floor mat on the way to Catjam, and found it 4 days later in someones front yard on the way back home. :rollin:

Yes, that's the part that fell off. I found the one that fell off but if you aren't going to need that one, mine is cracked. I'd probably still be interested in it.
