Wheel paint?

Bought a can of Dupli-color wheel paint today for the SHO.

Anyone have any luck with it? Advice, input, anything is helpful.

Cant paint for a few days due to the rain anyways.

I used the argent and clearcoat wheel paint from Dupli-Color. It looked good for about six months, then the clear failed and brake dust began to permeate the surface. I couldn't even get them clean after that, and there was no shine to speak of.

I think it sucks, but you might have better results. I used only three or four coats of clear.

Use a scotch brite pad to scuff it up on each coat and then wipe off the dust make sure it is ALL gone or the paint will flake. Do it between paint and clear, should end up looking pretty good. Just take your time.

I used the black on the Scorpio wheels and it washiznit and miss. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning them and prepping them, and I still have one wheel that is flaking/chipping.

I have another set of wheels that I'm going to give a go @ powdercoating instead.

What about striping the wheel down to bare aluminium and then painting it? That *may* yield better results.

I used that paint as well,and my methods were close to that of the video.I had great results,and,I let the wheels dry in the garage for about 5 days.If I remember right,the can states that dry time is a few days.Follow the instructions,and be patient and it should be fine.

I used the Duplicolor paint on my turbines, worked great. :burnout:

Well I "could" get them powercoated CHEAP. Didnt want to deal with un mounting and re mounting tires.

If I let them cure for days I guess I could drive the Cougar for a while....

I used it a few times. I never once properly prepped the wheels, and it worked great for me. I just washed the wheels with Dawn, then sprayed. First time I didn't use clear, and when I used some Purple Power cleaner, it did damage the paint a little bit. The second time I used clear, and never had any issues.

Im waiting on it. Think I am going to powercoat them down the road.
