Uh, if you're planning on tearing a TC up for a Mustang build you aren't going to be liked here just to let you know.

You come over and post on a Tbird/Cougar website trying to find one to cut up for you Mustang project?  If you looked hard enough and did some local networking, you could probably come up with a motor/trans to perform your swap with out having to trash a good running automobile.
If you really want to do this swap, get a truck, and come up here and I'll sell you a motor/5speed set up for $650 just to keep you from tearing up a good car.
It's your money, do with it what you will.  I'm tired of seeing good cars tore up for no good reason.
88 TC 5speed, 168000+ miles, stock 2.3T long block, ported RFE6 exhaust, Evergreen T3 running 15#'s.
Up next: FMIC, fresh air intake, ported intakes, ported big valve head.

what is the URL of this site? FOX-TBIRD-COUGAR-forums.com so this isnt only your site its ours too.

im not just going to part it out im going to put it back on the road.

if you had my car you would understand if there is no way to make a car faster except to do a motor swap or buy a new car and your mother wont let you sell your car to buy another or put a 5.0 in yours what would you do deal with 100hp besides the car will be going to a girl who would give a  about cars and just drive the car into the ground tell me should the whole car end up in a junk yard or just the shell with a n/a 2.3.

Ease up everyone...  First thing I must point out is that the 'fox' in our name refers to the fact that our cars are a part of the 'fox family' too.  Not saying owners of other makes & models aren't welcome.  Just making a correction because I'm a nit-picker like that.

Did anyone read the ad?  It says 'rough around the edges'... ok?  That could mean that the whole bottom edge of the quarters and doors are rusted out.  Still so intent on saving a 'rare gem'?  And what is there to hack or cut?  It's a matter of bolts & wires, people.  How does anyone know it's a good car with those TWO 640x480 pics!?!

Take it easy on the kid... most of us despise the 2.3 anyway because of how finicky they can be.  You guys were nicer to the guy with a Chevy engine in  his T-bird!

find and SVO and tear it apart! they are ugly anyway! lol
I got a good 4cyl/5speed with new clutch and pressure plate. has 67k original miles on it and its in a mustang, take the motor mounts and cross member too. $400 you can take it all. Just need it out of the car so i can s the body. (its totaled) Hate to see a  good running motor go to waste though.

I think in the ad when he says "rough around the edges" means it needs a little work, not so much as rust. Just his way of saying it needs a little work. But who knows until you look at it! They always look good in the pictures!

well i want a 5spd and the rear end because these are the only cars with 4 lug disc brakes also im tight on cash so i need to find something cheap i dont have the money to get an ECM flashed.

also your telling me to go out and do the same thing to a SVO are you crazy there are less of them than TC only 10,000 ever made and i almost garantee that 5000 are crushed or rusted through but i want to get a Turbo motor after 86 since they are more reliable.

trust me if there was any other way to do it this cheap without me running all over the country looking for parts i would but this is the cheapest and easiest way to do it i would rather not destroy the heratige of a car and this way insurance doesnt go up if i used the TC as a daily driver it would go up 25-30 bucks i dont have the money for.

also like i stated in my last post a girl who know nothing about cars is going to get it after the swap at least im going to take care of the motor most people gut them just to turn them into drag cars thats not what im doing.

If you take up his offer for the SVO you won't need a reflashed ECU now will you? I'm sure they are the same wire harness and hookup since others have done an SVO swap before. ;) SVOs have Discs front and rear and 5 lug ;). Not to mention the TC rear is wider than your Mustang's is ;)

Take a look at the title of the forum and you'll see why a few of us are upset about you Mustang guys tearing up OUR favorite cars. We don't mind if you tear up an SVO we don't care if you tore up a Cobra. Don't destroy a saveable TC to put a Turbo motor in your Mustang.

So what is the real problem with 100hp? Its a gas saver car man, you aren't going street racing or bracket racing in a four cyl turbo no matter if you have a turbo or not. Buy a V8 and be done with it, if your mom says no listen to her! Save up your money for a project car or something along that lines, you don't want to be tearing down your DD and get stuck or be without your car do you?

Let me just throw a few points in here:
1. turbo cars need special attention (Cool down idleing before shut off, warm up before throwing loads of boost its way.)
2. If she knows nothing about cars how is she going to care for it?
3. You're destroying a TC for a car you aren't going to even drive?
4. If she really knows nothing about cars and I would assume doesn't care, why not just leave it stock?

Why would you come on an obviously pro T-bird site with the intentions of ruining what is in itself a rare car(getting rarer thanks to people like you) and then expect help?!  That would be like us going to a Porshe site and asking around for a motor from some rare model to put in a dunebuggy. That may not be the best example but you get the point.  If you MUST defile a TC, at least do the rest of us that actually like these cars a favor and follow the links quietly, without posting your intentions.

Alright you guys win.  BAN HAMMER! BAN HAMMER! BAN HAMMER!

I guess this makes me a car-rapist and defiler too because the rear end out of my car came from an '88 XR-7 they made more of my base t-bird than they did of those XR-7's so I destroyed a rare car to upgrade my plain-jane t-bird.  Now on to the brakes... my front brakes are off of a *GASP* Turbo Coupe!  Another rare car sent to the crusher!

He doesn't care. He obviously just came on here to get the connections to get the motor.
