99 Ford Cougar

This is my 02 Ford Cougar. The body is a 99 as are all the components, but it was titled in 02. Anyways, I bought this as a shell only from a guy who knew a guy and put a wrecked car's parts into it to make one good car. Well, we have put 75,000 miles on it and nothing but gas and oil changes. Since I don't have a Thunderbird, and likely will not be getting one due to the fact that my wife is expecting our 4th child, I thought that I would put a little something back into the cougar. Basically, I am bored, and needed to work on something, this needed some tlc, and I thought you guys might get a kick out of looking at something different. Its still a Cougar so it has its place in this board. I thought you guys would get a kick out of seeing something different for a change. I will post pics from time to time with updates. Oh, and it started out just needing a clutch.....turns out it needs a little more.:punchballs: Enjoy.

You should buy some SVT Contour bits, I'm sure that would it improve it a little bit.

Well, I was going to change the timing chain and the oil pump but I have been told if the motor is still running, do not mess with it. Sound like sound advice. So it will be just the clutch, lower ball joints, new control arms, few other odds and ends that have to be changed. More pictures to come.

Good luck. I'm sure we can deal with your non-fox propaganda for a while. Many people have sold birds and cats and bought mustangs to replace them. We have a few memebers that do not even own birds or cats and joined because I am that bad ass.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Here is a few more pics. Got the transmission off, changed the wheel bearings. What a pain this car is. I had to go to the Ford dealership yesterday and the service guy told me if the motor or "brain" ever fails, to sell the car and buy beer with the money I make. These are apparently a money sucker when it comes time for fixins. The intake is pretty wild too...the lower control arm bushings were shot and cannot be replaced individually, they have to be bought with the whole arm...for 200 bucks a piece(dealer only). Bought two off ebay 100 bucks to my front door.  With new ball joints. So me happy for now. Tomorrow I pick up 3, 17 dollar a qrt synthetic trans oil. Yeeha
