Yeah thats my freinds car. He says hes gonna take it to CJ this year but I've heard that before lol. Thats a 295/50 or 60 on the back of his and he still has the quads on it too, but then again it also has stang rear.

Anyone have some ideas on what color to paint mine (the white one). I was just gonna repaint it white for now but I was thinking black or a real dark blue kinda like what came on the TC's would look good.

How come you're going to repaint it? It looks pretty sharp in the pics. I like your buddy's car too, but I don't know about the strip on the back. It could be my age though, I'm older than most of you guys and am not to into that kind of a stripe. Either way, I think your car looks sharp!

Pics make mine look good, but in person its not the greatest (reminds me of a cheap Maaco job), the paint scratches super easy and the salt that got on it when it came from NJ I think messed it up in some spots. Plus you can see where its been touched up in a couple places and I got some rust spots I want to take care of too.

Other than that all it needs is some new struts, swaybar endlinks and bushings.

That blue cat would look hot with a 5 lug swap and some P71 wheels!

Don't get me wrong I like what's on there now, but some black steelies would go VERY well with that blue and the 87-88 body lines IMHO.

What color is your interior? That's the biggest determining factor for choosing the exterior color. Ever think of a pearl white like some of the GM cars over that past few years?

I would probably say no to black. Not that I have anything against black, it's just that any flaw in the cars surface can and will show up. Not only that but it's getting to be kind of a boring color. It almost seems that any time someone wants to quickly repaint a car, they go for black. The '86 I had was originally Medium Canyon Red and the previous owner repainted it black. It would have looked so sweet if it was done up in the original color but was just normal looking in black.

The wheels are just some Summit Racing brand Weld knock-offs. I cant remeber the backspace on the rears though but he was able to get 295/50 or 60 tire on it and it still keep the quad shocks on using a mustang rear. Yes that is a 4in cowl hood that him and his dad made.

It has the dark blue interior in it. I have been trying to find something else other than black for those reasons I mean it would look good black but I want something different, and I have thought about the pearl white that GM used just not sure if it would look right one of these.

I agree with thunderjet302. The more original you keep the Cougar the more it's gonna be worth in the long run. But it could always be repainted to it's original color. I'd just get a color sheet & see what you think would look best. Good Luck!
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]1988 Cougar XR-7. My parents specially ordered this car with every option accept leather seats in 1988. I bought it from them in 1998 & since then have installed American Racing wheels (still have factory mag wheels in boxes), ceramic coated headers into dual Flowmaster 50 series lers with single into dual stainless tips, 4 row radiator, B&M Transpak, converted to Mass Air with cold air intake, etc..

I cant leave anything stock for long so that wouldnt work lol. Now if the paint that was on it was in good shape I'd leave it alone and just clean it up real good but its just plain wore the heck out.

I still got some things to do to the car yet before I think about painting it, but my goal is to atleast get it repainted before CJ.
