lighted visor disassembly

Anyone ever done it?

I've started tearing into one and I'm pretty sure I'm tearing it up in a non-recoverable manner.  At least not easily repaired.

I've got the answer now.  Maybe the judicious application of glue will fix the damage done during exploratory surgery.

The unlighted visors have a fiberboard insert riveted to the bar.

The lighted visors are two pieces of plastic glued/fused together.  The lining is stuffed in the resulting seam.  The vanity mirror is removable by carefully prying at the lower edge at both corners.  The electrical contact also serves as the spring for the vanity 'lid'.

Remove the mirror, then the covering material can be removed.  If the plastic halves are separable, please let me know how to do it.

Explain. I have swapped some stuff around on the visors but I am not exactly sure what halves you are talking about.

Top is lighted visor with vanity mirror removed.  The horizontal metal bar across the top serves as a spring for the lid and contact switch.  Three tabs along the bottom edge of the mirror lock it in place.  The visor itself is two pieces of plastic glued(?) together, trapping the mounting rod in place.

Bottom is an unlighted visor.  The mirror is stapled in place.

I hate to be a PITA, but you don't have any larger photos, do you?
I'd like to see the wiring...

The unlighted ones are just thick cardboard then?

I can email something to you.  (edit - let me try something first)

Fiberboard, similar to the door panel base.

If anyone is considering the Ranger OH console and has the longer style visor,  I think the only thing needed is to carefully remove the cloth cover from the tip, cut to the plastic to fit, then re-cover over the amputated area.
