Tps? Help!!

How do I check the TPS? Also how do I know if it is bad or not. My idle is high and idling at 2000 RPM, someone told me to check TPS but im unsure how to check it, also they recommend to clean IAC ( cleaned it and thats fine. Also if I disconnect the TPS when the car is on should it make a difference in idle or not? because I disconnected the harness, and it was still idling at 2000 RPM. Thanks.

You disconnect the IAC harness to check.....Not the TPS....If idle drops or car stalls out your TPS is most likely bad....If your idle stays the same there is a pretty good chance you have a vacuum leak

A vacuum leak can cause a fast idle, also.

When the TPS went out on my cougar, we unplugged the IAC, and the idle went to normal... thought it was the IAC first. cleaned it out and replaced it, then I thought about the TPS, replaced it, and been running and idleing awesome since.
