I have one on my Bird ( made for a Stang, fit like a glove),but it's different than both of those.Close to the first one,but a little different.I found out that I can still swap heads and intake without removing it.....which is good.

the second picture is pretty close to what i have made. I am just wondering if it will brace the strut towers the same or better then the first strut tower brace.

I'm guessing you mean wallthickness of the tubing?  To a point. A larger diameter tube would be stiffer though.

I like the Maximum Motorsports one.  If I was shopping for a new STB, THAT is the one I would buy.

This may be a silly question, but wouldn't heim joints be...ummm, worthless in such an application?

They can be useful say going between the strut towers to help resist in/outward movement of them, but they are neigh useless in resisting any kind of twisting forces.
