Fold-down seats in a Fox

I've wanted fold-down rear seats for forever.  It would be pretty cool to do.  I'm thinking that pirating a complete setup from another car would make things easier, esp with the latching mechanisms, but like Eric said, the floorpans are different so some fabrication would be necessary.

Hey guys, (out of the blue after months I return :) Anyway, I've wanted to do this as well (ever since the SN dash swap).  I've seen it done in a hatchback mustang using the SN seats and it looks killer.  But the hatchback stangs are already setup for the narrow seats, where as we are more like a notch where the top half of the upper portion of the seat extends further out, above the wheel wells.  But I think this is the way I'm going to eventually plan mine, since I will most likely run SN seats later as well (even though I just got mine recovered front and rear).  So, it looks like some custom fiberglassing to extend the rear side panels will go along with the metal work

Well taking it from another car would be great, But what car? I think it wouldn't be too difficult to mod your existing seat. All you would have to do is mesure out where you would want it to split at and weld in new supports then skin out the back so its solid enough for it to hold its shape as it folds. And with the rear seat frame, all i would do is build a frame going around the opening and tie in your supports that are existing. Then with that frame work already there the latching mechignisims can attatch to that point.

Hey take a seat out of a 96-99 Taurus, my 97 SHO had a tube frame around the assy. everything was all built into the frame and seat back latch and all and I don't think it'd be way to different size wise. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think that'd look bad either. I doubt there'd be much of a diff but I'm just guessing.
