HID Lights

OK everyone ive searhced through the forums and have found arguments for both sides of the spectrum, are real HID kits safe to use in our cars or will it melt something?  And if not, how do i make it work now that a kit is on its way to my doorstep.  Thank you!:D

I got them in my car but mine is a 4 eye car so its is different than your car. I have the h4 bulb conversion housings I bought from Summit Racing and then I bought H4 HID bulbs with ballasts. I wired it so the lights are on thier own circuit and the factory head light switch turns on a relay that activates the circuit just incase the factory headlight harrness could not hold up to the power draw. I must say they look awesome! They are the 12000 series hid bulbs and have a purple tint to them. I was thinking about puting one in my snowmobile because they look so good on white snow.

Do the housings have the cut-off to keep from blinding on-coming traffic?

The bulbs came with them and the housings did too so I took the ones off the bulbs by removing the tiny screws that held them on. I have to take a picture of them in the dark.
