converting from EFI to Carb March 22, 2005, 08:56:29 PM What is involved in converting an 88 std 5.0 to a carbureted engine? Any advice would be great. Can the std cam still be used? Distributor? The trans being used is a C4. Thanks for the help. Quote Selected
Re: converting from EFI to Carb Reply #1 – March 22, 2005, 10:01:31 PM OK you'll need an intake, carb, distributor, ignition module, and coil. You will also need to rewire a few things as your chassis is setup for EFI and not a carb. Your car will turnover but you no longer have a wire harness to carry an "ignition on" power lead from the inside of the car to the ignition module. Obviously the car will not start without an ignition lead to the module. You will also need a fuel pump, either mechanical or low pressure electric. A standard cam can be used. Quote Selected

The carb and manifold are a given but am not sure about the cam. We want to use an old style points distributor with Petronix upgrade. We will probably go to a mild cam upgrade, nothing radical.
