Powerdyne SuperChargers.....

Anyone use one of the Powerdyne chargers?  I just got set up as a dealer for them cause I heard they were good, but now that I'm set up, I see they are more expensive than Vortech, so no body is really buying them.  From what I see the Powerdyne and Vortech are pretty similar.  From what I see here, there is ALOT of knowledge and experience, so any advice.....  should I keep trying to sell these, or should I go at a different manufacturer?  I really like the Powerdyne setup though, no drilling and tapping into your oil supply, basicaly just bolt your stuff on, run your belt, and go have fun (a little more than that, but not much..)

I've never had a boosted car of any kind.. but when I finally do my first one, with the supercharged 300 I6 project I have listed elsewhere, I'd probably go with a Kenne Bell. They have a kit for a 4.0L I6 Jeep.. so it gives me hope that I can work something out for my own unusual choice of engine.

I don't know.. I might consider a centrifugal one of these days, on some other project. But that's a loooooooooooooooooooong way off from being  near broke right now.

I know the feeling of beeing brole.... that's one reason I went with Powerdyne, they tend to sell on the inexpensive side.  Unfortunately, they don't have a great selection of applications.  I heard the Kenne Bell, and other twin screw chargers work awesome, but that comes at a hefty price.  I never looked into it too deep... I looked at the whipple twin screw chargers, they were the only ones I found for the TBI Suburban I have, but they wanted more for the supercharger than I paid for the truck......  So I bagged the thought of a power adder for it, and decided to either sel the truck or build a big block for the towing I do..... still haven't decided which way to go.  Figure I'll play with my cougar insted of think about a GM....lol

Both units are excellent in Stock form whether they be 5,6,9 PSI.  Let's say we take a 9 PSI vortech and compare it to a 9 PSI Powerdyne.  Powerdyne's impeller design allows it to start making boost at lower RPM than Vortech, however if you really wanna go nuts I would recommend either the Vortech Kit or Powerdyne's Gear driven kit as opposed to the Silent Drive of Powerdyne.  The advantage of the silent drive is that it does not require you to use outside lubrication.  It's housing contains 4 sealed bearings which, 2 pulleys, and a belt made of kevlar (or Fiberglass).  Good in stock form, room for upgrade, however you can only upgrade so much.  It's also relatively inexpensive and a bit easier to intall due to the fact no oil lines are required.
Most other Centrifugal Superchargers are Geardriven so and require lubrication so running oil lines is a requirement.  With a gear driven system you have more room for upgrade.  21 PSI kits are not uncommon.  The picture is of a belt driven Powerdyne

Paul, thanks for the info, I was debating about dropping the dealer program I have with them because of the bad I heard, but you helped me out there.  I'll keep it, and let people know what I have read, and inform them they are good in stock form, just don't try to push the limits with them.

I've never had any experience with ATI nor has anyone I've personally come in contact with.  I've seen Vortech, Paxton, Powerdyne, and a few Kenne Bell setups.  Blownbirds has a Procharger on his 86.

The procharger is real wicked, but these blowers are real expensive. Even the base model kits like a p-600. They do come with an intercooler though. Selling wise, I would think they are hard to push, unless somebody really wants to go fast.

Well I'm a poor man so I buy most everything used, got the procharger for $800 from somebody that was selling their mustang, but yes they are pretty high if you pay new price for them. If I find good deals, I pick them up if I've got the money at the time, speaking of which, I just picked up some Draglites that will probably go up for sale soon if nobody around here wants them. I'd keep em myself, but have nothing I can use a 4 lug wheel on.

Do you mean the wheels, they are 15x8 and I think the fronts are 15x4, but I'll have to check on that. If you mean the blower, I no longer have it, but it was a p-1sc 14psi
