what a day. A new arrival

Well.  Just thought I would pop in and let yall know whats been going on.  I just bought an 86 cougar 5.0 aod and got it home today.  450 bucks and runs pretty good :-D  How ever my other 86 cougar (blue) washiznit by a deer this morning after work.. (irony i tell you)  deer ran into the passenger door.  didnt hurt the deer enough  she just ran off ( so no meat in my freezer)  But as it will be i will part out the 86 blue cougar 3.8 and pull parts that i need for the 86 5.0 cat (white)  Just thought id give yall a brief rundown.  more pictures and details to come!

and one question... factory 5.0 shorty headers... willt hey clear the 5.0/aod column shift set up?

It's annoying....I think perhaps my motor mounts are old and sagging...not sure. But the stud that ended up on the lower side, right near the horizontal rod in the shifitng linkange was VERY annoying. Simply would not fit. wanted to be almost right where the rod is. Took the rod out ground out a 1" section of it a little more than halfway through the thickness of the rod with a bench grinder, and almost completely sawed off one of the sides of the hex shape of the nut. Tightened it the right amount so that side faced the rod. About an 1/8" of room if even that.

They will if your motor mounts arent wore out. I swapped to the floor shifter because I couldnt get my H pipe up there. I was told that with new motor mounts it would clear.

I just did my MMs and it did raise the motor up some. Not a fun job though.

You can move the crossover linkage a little for clearance issues.
Usualy just by making the holes a little bigger where it mounts to the frame.
It worked for me with ho and bbk headers with bad mounts, yeh it is tight though.
