Front end noise ?

87 Bird developed a strange noise today from the rt frt. Its a rather loud squeak. Got under the car and checked it over and everything looks good. I swear it is coming from the spring area. Had my kid listen as well as I lifted up on the car and he agreed as to the area. Springs were replaced 3 years ago so they are still relativly new. Any ideas????

Sounds to me like you have a bad balljoint.

Thats what I am leaning towards as well. I will attempt anything but not a big fan of areas with springs so will defer to a shop I know. Should these be done as a pair or just one ok.

Do ball joints in pairs. If one is on its way out you can bet the other one is close behind.

Just wondering but did you check the strut mounts? They squeak/creak when they wear out.

Found a cracked frt spring and ball joints about due for replacement. My question now is since I am thinking of replacing all 4 springs, frt struts, and ball joints does anyone have suggestions/or know what you have used. Although price is important I am more into quality for this. Thanks

I just replaced the front struts and mount plates on my car. I put on Monroe Sensa-Traks. In my opinion, they don't seem a whole lot different than the ones I had (which IIRC were Monroe Gas-Matics). Of course, they have better response being new, but I don't think they're any "stiffer" or have altered the ride quality any. I almost went with KYBs, but in the end opted for the slightly less expensive Monroes. My car is just a DD, so it's not like I was looking for something "trackable".

Thanks for the suggestion. This is also a dd, I will post pics of the spring when I get it done, maybe broken sounds better than cracked. I am not overly surprised by it as I go to some rather unsavory places looking for some not so nice people. Since I have painted the car I dont take it on the real bad roads
