Fuelie intake manifold for a BOAT

My father owns a 1992 Donzi 16' boat with a Chevy 350 mated to an OMC Cobra stern drive.  The things a hoot to be in weighing only 1800 pounds with a full tank of gas and just under 300 flywheel horsepower.

The motor has seen better days however, and while he's freshening it up he'd like to overcome one shortfall.  He wants to convert to fuel injection.  The trick is that he wants to do it on the cheap.

Being that the boat is set up for salc00cher running -- and it's gonna be kept that way -- he needs iron heads and intake.  Aluminum is a no-no.  So what about a 350 TPI setup?  Any of them come with iron intake manifolds?  What about LT1's?  I'm not too well versed in chevy parts made after the '70's.

I believe all TPI ant LT1 intakes are aluminium.

I wonder how long an LS1 would last as a Boat engine........:hick:

I'm really not sure how a composite intake would work in a salc00cher application.  From what I understand certain year TPI's were in fact iron.....Just not certain on which ones.

The intakes are aluminum, while the rest of the block is iron (block, heads)

Is throttle body out of the question?

Why not slap one of those Holley EFI/carb setups on it? I remember them doing that to and older mustang in MM&FF. It seems like it isn't real EFI but better than a CARB!

Why does he not like his carb?

He could go with a closed cooling system...

Other than that, I am unaware of any cast iron MPFI (or, in GM speak, TPI) intakes. About the only EFI solution I can think of is an old cast iron 2-bbl intake with TBI...

Space would likely become an issue.
He's looking for something multiport - no TBI.

I have tried. Local GM dealer was able to look up the parts but could not get them. I recieved this info from GM.

Time to start looking around eBay.....
