Well I sold the VW and bought something else... June 11, 2008, 10:11:46 PM This...It's an '85 Volvo 244 Turbo. It has the 2.1L intercooled turbo 4 with a manual trans. The VW was just too small and the drive wheels were on the wrong end. I have been thinking about one of these for a while, but was kind of waiting. The deal fell together with buying this car and selling my VW though all to easily. Both this car and my buyer were in Chicago. So I drove the VW up and the Volvo back this past Sat, and made out on the deal.It needs some work (but so did my VW) but will make a good driver once I take care of a few things and have some fun with it. The tiny wheels/tires aside, these are pretty well-balanced platforms with 4-wheels disks, a 5-link rear end stock. And it's turboed.... Quote Selected

Well I sold the VW and bought something else... Reply #4 – June 11, 2008, 10:45:45 PM It's just an 8V (the older B21) with the K-Jet mechanical FI.I might swap in a later B23 or 16V, but I also just might convert this to EFI using MS. I don't need a 300hp powerplant in this thing.Still learning my way around these things. The last Volvo I had to drive was 20 years ago.I think I have a "big" Ford 2.3T turbo sitting around that would make an upgrade for this as it uses a smaller T3. Quote Selected

Well I sold the VW and bought something else... Reply #9 – June 17, 2008, 07:22:28 PM Nice. I love the old Volvos. Things are bulletproof. Unlike the newer ones...I wouldn't mind finding an old 242 turbo, or a 740 turbo wagon, or better yet, a 780. Maybe if gas prices ever come down I'll find one for a daily driver. I never did find Volvos easy on fuel - my old 740 GLE (non-turbo) was fairly hard on gas, and the V70XC was as bad as a Jeep Cherokee... Quote Selected
