Header clearance? April 20, 2008, 08:40:08 PM I put a set of heddman shorty headers on my 84 tbird. The passenger side header only has about 1/8 inch clearance to the floor were it meets the fire wall. is this going to be enough?I plan on putting insulation between the floor and carpet. The headers are also wrapped with header wrap. Quote Selected
Header clearance? Reply #2 – April 21, 2008, 09:03:59 AM I have a 351 with macks shorty headers and i have the same gap.I have had this set up for 3 years in a 83 kat and now over a yera in a 85 bird and not one fire yet. I think you will be OK. Quote Selected
Header clearance? Reply #3 – April 21, 2008, 09:15:14 AM Lose the header wrap if you want the headers to last. It causes mositure entrapment and the headers will rust. If you are worried about heat, coating are much more effective. Quote Selected

Header clearance? Reply #5 – April 22, 2008, 12:02:04 AM I was thinking more along the lines of rubbing and making noise then a fire issue.... Quote Selected
