4-cyl Ranger tranny - T5?

Like the title says. Is the 5-speed in a late 80's, early 90's 4-cyl Ranger a T5, or is it that foolish M5OD?

Just wonderin'...

I'm pretty sure all rangers got the Mazda 5 speed, because there are guys that swap T5's into Rangers and they have to change some stuff.

Yeah it should be an M5OD. Ive always heard they were pretty durable.

The R1 is the version used on the ranger/bronco II and aerostar. And HD version of the R1 was used on explorer and newer V6 rangers.

The R2 is the version used on F150's and super coupes. They must have been pretty tough to handle the torque of the S/c 3.8 and the big 300 six.

5 speeds from 4 cyl rangers could be toyo koygo (came in 4 or 5 speed) or M5OD-R1  the M5OD R-1 trans is all aluminum with an integral bellhousing ;-) easy to differenciate.

Yeah, I figured it out after checking Mitchell OnDemand. Older Rangers could have been the Mazda M5OD or a Mitshubishi unit.
