Went racing again, went FASTER!

So today was the Bracket Racing season opener down at PIR. At the last second we decided what the hell, and drove down for it (John's down visiting after dropping off his Turbo Coupe for the engine swap) in the 'Vic. Drove 20+ miles around the track in circles helping to dry it off (that was fun, we took some videos :P ) and then got 3 qualifying passes before eliminations.

Now the 'Vic's previous best was a 15.166@91.79, but because of the damp track we had to run 1/8th mile today. Well the previous best 1/8 (the 15.166 pass) was a 9.848@73.74 with a 2.355 60'.

On the second qualifying pass I ran a 9.785@73.15 with a 2.236 60'. That's with a full tank (minus about 40 miles), spare and tools in the trunk, street tire pressure, EXACTLY how I drove it to the track. With the track actually prepped the car dead hooked. Less then 45 minutes later it went a 9.813@73.24 with a 2.268 60'.

Then came eliminations... I dialed in a 9.79 and went to the line. Ran a 9.796@73.09 with a 2.213 60'! Unfortunately I red-lit (-.043 :hick: ) and the other guy had broken out. Arrgh! I threw one away!

Oh well, I proved my point that this car is not at it's fastest yet, even how it sits. Next time I go, it needs to be at 1/3 a tank of gas, take the spare, tools, and floormats out (over 100Lb with the gas), and actually look at tire temps/air pressure. Maybe even ice the intake :P Oh, and more seat time.

If I can stick another 2.21 60' on a 1/4 mile pass with the less weight I think it will run around a 14.6-14.7 at about 93 in similar cool weather. Good thing there's racing next weekend! ;)
