windshield resurfacing

My windshield has just over 150,000 miles and its pitted like crazy. you'd think sand has been eroding it. im contemplating replacing the whole windshield but i thought i'd ask first. is there a way to resurface a windshield? if im driving into a sunset i usually cant see past the glare from all the pits in the windshield. i noticed today i was frakin blind.

Could try buffing it with tooth paste

i thought about toothpaste, but it'd take forever... i cant remember the name right now but its like commet/ajax or whatever, kinda gritty, im ganna try that and post results.

anyone else have any ideas?

I've buffed out wiper scratches with polishing compound.
If you use anything to buff, don't stay in one spot to long.
It'll give you a warped look through the glass in that area.
I used to buff my cougar glass all the time. Then i'd wax it.
makes the water bead real nice too.

never used toothpaste on a windshield but it works well on your plastic headlights
ive heard people mention the comet/ajax tub and sink cleaner thing with good praise but never tried it myself as all my cars had decent glass:shakeass:

Mines pitted real bad. Really hard to see sometimes when the sun shines on the windshield. From sand no doubt.

if you try any of these things may i suggest that you try a small place on the pass. side to see if it works. if it screws up you won't be to bad off.

oh im definatly ganna try it either in the bottom right or top right of the windshield no larger than about a silver dollar or 50 cent piece. (pass side)
