Superchips tuner?

Anybody ever played with one? I got offered one for the 'Vic at 1/4 price and it's certainly tempting...

Only ever used them in diesels. If it is cheap enough, why not?

Does it come with programs or does it just manipulate the stock program?  For the advertised price I'd say go with an SCT product ESPECIALLY if you plan on any dynotuning.  It's much more widely used for that.  The $175 price isn't bad though if you can return everything to stock should you wish.....

It does both. Some things you can't change, but some things you can manipulate. Apparently it can swap between tunes and is compatible with E85 (a big thing for me).

How much are the SCT ones new? Remember I'm mega-budgeting this car!

An SCT with 3 tunes will run$400-450 depending on engine type and application the tunes are for.....E85 compatibility is being addressed by almost all of the flash tuner corporations now.

Grab it for $175 shipped.  Good deal on a budget.

OK! That's what I needed to know (I have a hard time buying $400 parts for a $2450 car :hick: )

So I'll grab this, and a K&N FIPK that I found for $175 (about $50-$75 off of Summit). Combined with the cat-back and RP fluids I might start seeing some real gains. I'll be porting the elbow and TB myself but after that I think I'm out of super-cheap mods (except pullies, which don't sound conducive to DD'ing).

I'd like to try some shorty headers/new cats all in 2.5" to complement the cat-back, but that's some $$$. Used Mustang ones? I'm such a cheapskate :hick:

Used nitrous kit!!!! :D:D:D

Not for nothin, but how hard would it be to change it so the plenum and TB face the other side?

50Resto.com has a 75 mm TB and plenum combo for $200

I'm assuming the biggest stepping stone would be the throttle/cruise cables.

Throttle/cruise/trans cables, airbox (it takes in air from behind the headlight through a hole in the rad support), move the battery/cables/fuse and relay boxes, A/C compressor/dryer/lines, and I'm sure I'm missing some other stuff too :(

That's why the 3V mod sounds doable, I'd still need the front accessory/pulley setup, but the air intake would go in the same spot and as long as I could find a normal TB that fit, everything would "bolt-on".

There's a few places that make CV specific elbows (ADTR and Accufab) and maybe it's the F-150 TB's that fit (not sure, but there's TB's out there). It's just the actual intake tubing to the TB that's a problem (since it's Panther-platform specific).

The "hot" setup on CVN is a Marauder airbox w/MAF (at $225), a 03-04 CVPI "Zip tube" (at $50), and of course a "tune" to go with it (SCT @$400, tune @$200). Maybe it's just me, but $875 (before shipping) for basically stock components and maybe 20HP (tune included) is kind of ridiculous.

I figure the plastic K&N FIPK (with stock size MAF) will flow better (cone filter) without loss of the "CAI" effect (comes with a heat shield), and the cheap tuner will do the same thing, all for $350 shipped. Maybe find a cheap used TB and port my own elbow (they have plenty of meat).

The price of doing up modular motors pains me.....
I'm never under the hood of a 2v Mustang so it's nice to learn a little more on them.  My first CAI and tuner were $500+, but I gained upwards of 30 HP.....$875 for 20 is a waste.....

Which one looks like it flows better? The FIPK lists for $258 at Summit, the tuner lists for $380.

I'd order the K&N cone filter and shield with the MAF housing and custom fab the rest out of PVC pipe from Home Depot or Lowes.  Paint it after for looks!;)

The cone, shield, MAF holder, and what-not are still more the $175 alone ;)

I bought the complete unit for $175 shipped and same on the tuner.

Now to find some nitrous... :D

The only problem with the Superchip tuner is that it is a tune for a
stock car. Which yours is not.

The SCT tuner will allow mods or combo of diffrent parts from diffrent cars and make them work well togther.

I'm a SCT dealer and I can get you a tuner and tunes Cheaper than you listed.  PM me if you are intrested.
