I hear that, I put my shorty headers and x-pipe on this weekend and it was not a simple bolt-on. lol. I beat, banded, made a small dent here and there, got out the grinder and torch but got it on. My lers will be here tomorrow, I just ordered the summit turbos. Oh, I like the 5-speed boot idea, I did that on a firebird once.

Glad I didn't have to go through all that... I just heated and bent the hangers in about 1/2"... and it bolted right up...now I have to fill in the 52" between the H- and tail pipes.... lol

I also used the pipe hanger from the SC... it was still on the AOD and it seemed to work fine. I don't know if they're the same as the stock version

hmmmm.  I'm thinking I could just use the AOD shifter cover and a boot... mainly because the shifter is off centered to start with.  I could mod it to work with a boot maybe

Cutting a hole to fit the boot would be easy. One the factory 5 speed panels, there are pins molded into the plastic on the bottom that the boot slips on to, then little metal clips hold the boot to the panel. Either way, It wouldn't be hard to figure it out. BUT, on the 5 speed panel, it rolls down into the boot....meaning, the hole for the shifter has a concave roll to it...if that makes sense.

The panels aren't too hard to find. The boots are also easy.

jerry I got a 5 spd shifter panel if you need it... yours for the cost of shipping.

...which shouldn be much.

Also, I might be able to get you a 5 spd boot from the local yard but I don't remember for sure or not just how much stuff was left on that console.....

When I tried to use a manual boot on an automatic shifter I found that there wasn't enough give in the boot to allow the range of front to back motion, so I went with another plan.
