I just realized something for real

Keyless entry......
the numbers on the pad are arranged so that two numbers share a common pad.  1 and 2 are on the same,,, 3 and 4 are on the same pad ect ect.

so.........

the combo to open the door "makes you think" you have to hit the exact side of the button in order to make the number work.

actually......
all you have to do is just hit the whole button and the combo still works.

you dont have to really hit the edge of each button at all, just the whole button.

:Dactually my oldest boy mason figured this out!

well , the previous owner was showing me around the car and whatnot, and i saw how he washiznitting the buttons.  Using his thumbnail to kinda get to each little number.  I just thought thats how you did it.

His reason on how he did it,,

"well dad, you never know till you try.  It didnt make sense to me.  Grownups dont have fingers that small"

that boy leaves me scratching my head sometimes.  Nope, he didnt read the owners manual.

and...........................

i just realized something else on the 20th....

emergency brake does not ratchet into place. Its quite as a mouse and stays put.  Then you put the car into drive and the darn thing disengages on its own.  it must be some sort of friction thingamajig instead of a wratchet/pawl setup.

I dont like this cause sometimes that ebrake can be handy for when the car is in drive.  I use to check the white coug tranny fluid in drive with the ebrake on.
On the 20th, i have to have the front wheels against something.

That's funny. I have known this all along, but I say the number code in my head even though some numbers are just the other number on the same key - lol!

BTW, my nephew, when he was about 8 years old, figured out that you can simply push the keys in random order until the door unlocks. This happens because there is no lock-out when a key is pressed - as soon as the correct combination is pressed - even if it's in the middle of a random bunch of button pressed, the door will open.

Just press the 7/8 & 9/0 buttons at the same time, you'll find out...(hope you know your code)...

Lincons are no different from the others, there are only five contacts in any of the pads and this includes the newer vehicles...

The vacuum parking brake release was optional on many vehicles... Like Leather seats, a hole in my roof and EATC, it's another thing I don't want...

Yep, my nephew learned the "random button unlock" trick on my dads Mercury Marquis.

I removed the vacuum brake release thing cause, like so many of them eventually will, it was leaking vacuum.

I will say I like the heated suede center seats and you can drive the car with your brain turned off. The EATC keeps me warm (no A/C), the headlights auto turn-on and auto high-beam on back roads, so even when I'm spaced out the car knows what to do. :hick:
