stereo dimmer

mornin guy's, got me a new stereo that has a dimmer on it so that when you turn on your lights the stereo will dim down, anyone know where i can hook this wire to??

Most of our illumination / clusters go a little dim whne headlamps are turned on.  how bad is it?  like half?

if so, trace out the wire back taking voltage readings up to the source which is likely the main light switch.,, or high resistance on the cluster illumination relay contacts.
