Re: Randy Rhoads Reply #1 – February 10, 2005, 02:51:33 PM Nice site.....a superb guitar player that we lost at far too young an age. Weird how it seems to be that way the past 30 years doesn't it? Quote Selected
Re: Randy Rhoads Reply #2 – February 10, 2005, 03:00:02 PM Thanks man. It blows my mind to think where he would have been had he lived... He had so much knowledge of fundamental music theory that it put him in whole different league from guys like EVH. Quote Selected
Re: Randy Rhoads Reply #3 – February 10, 2005, 09:36:51 PM Dimebag Darrell said as much in an older interview I read of his lately about where guitar playing might be today if he was still around. Dime was a big Randy Rhoads fan. I would say Randy was in a different league but I don't mean that to sound like he's a way better player or anything than say EVH....just that he was a different kind of player who excelled at the style he played. Dime considered Randy more of a metal guitar player ......basically one of, if not the best metal guitar player to date and he thinks of EVH as the best hard rock guitar player. I'm kinda like Dime in a way...I'm not into labelling one guy as the best ever as a lot of people like to do....we've been blessed to hear a lot of extremely good players who are amazing at certain styles of music who can be labelled as the best of their genre. Re: Randy Rhoads Reply #4 – February 10, 2005, 10:50:29 PM Oh I agree whole-heartedly. I'm not one to give the broad title of greatest ever to anybody either. I agree there can be greatest of genres like you said, guitar playing emcompasses way too many styles to designate it to one guy. I was simply saying I always hear Randy being compared to Eddy, but its really apples to oranges because Randy had his own thing going. Quote Selected
Re: Randy Rhoads Reply #5 – February 15, 2005, 01:05:09 AM Randy Rhoads Is my favorite guitarist! The solo from goodbye to romance inspired me to play lead guitar. His use of harmonic minor scales Is alot more tastful than malmsteen!(my opinion) And don't get me wrong, I think ynwgie is great but I love randy! What a great guy.i know all most of his Ozzy stuff, as well as a little of the stuff from the randy years quiet riot album. If you guys haven't head that album you should, its a little pop oriented but its great! Quote Selected
