83 Heritage Cougar?! August 18, 2007, 10:51:58 PM Was there some kind of special cougar in '83, Like the Heritage Thunderbird?I was just at the yard, And there was a rough but seemingly low mileage 1983 white cougar that looked like the cousin of the white '83 Heritage 'Bird that was in there...It had light up outside emblems, Leather interior, Vent windows, Lighted locks with keypad keyless entry, 5.0 AOD...And this amazing looking buttstuffog cluster, I drooled when i saw it~It's going in my car now instead of the TC Cluster. :hick:It's a brushed silver with black lines, Black numbers, And blue backlit.Pics soon, And yes i got the light up emblems as well~They will be funding my oxy sensor replacement. 83 Heritage Cougar?! Reply #2 – August 18, 2007, 11:32:45 PM Heres the stuff i got from it:The clear markers were broken. it had dual manual seats too! the light brown leather was shot on the front seats and actually looked like leather though. :hick:The exterior of the car was very rough, Especially since it only looks like has 57k miles?Rust, Super faded and worn peeling paint + Broken Tail lights, Header, Markers and Grille.I couldnt even read the door jamb factory tag, It was completely rubbed/faded off. There was a piles of home made business cards thrown in the interior... I should go bish slap the guy for putting it in the yard. :-P Quote Selected

83 Heritage Cougar?! Reply #4 – August 18, 2007, 11:48:20 PM Yea i need to get that seat rail, I'm kinda broke at the moment now though. >.<They charge like $18 for seat tracks. I also picked up a motorcraft (3G?) alternator out of a '93 3.8 Taurus GL with low mileage.Best looking one i could find and super easy to get out~The engine was dropped and leaning to the side, And all belts were off as well as the upper bolt, heh.Tested out great at autozone too.Anyway,Doing a quick search and checking coolcats they only made a GS and LS model in 83 apparently. And looking at this site:http://its.uark.edu/Pages/Hobbies_n_Interests/Cougar/picture_pages/That's basicly the car minus the cluster, leather and color scheme and such.Anyone know what the deal is on the cluster? I've never seen this silver style before. Quote Selected
83 Heritage Cougar?! Reply #5 – August 19, 2007, 12:32:05 AM That cluster is really cool. I've never seen one like that. Maybe it's a really base GS car? (I say this because non-SST Javelins, which are *really* rare, have a brushed aluminum dash in 70, all the SST and higher trims, plus the AMX's were woodgrain. The aluminum dash brings HUGE $$$$$$ nowadays!) Quote Selected
83 Heritage Cougar?! Reply #6 – August 19, 2007, 03:22:59 AM I dont really look at my gauges that closely, but Im pretty sure mine are the same, but with the green lighting. Maybe mine have yellow lines, Idk. I havent driven my Cougar in months....sad really. Quote Selected
83 Heritage Cougar?! Reply #7 – August 19, 2007, 09:00:14 AM I do believe that is just the base cluster. Looks about like my 84 turbo coupe only silver instead of black. The TC cluster the fuel gauge is a tach and the Gear indiactor is it the fuel gauge. I do know that the Crown Vic's got the silver cluster also. I bet those blue lights are colored bulbs. Never know though. Quote Selected

83 Heritage Cougar?! Reply #13 – August 19, 2007, 04:42:49 PM That car was an '83 LS with the V6. The silver cluster was base- and LS-only for 1983 Cougars. In 1984 the cluster was slightly darker in color. And it was a V6 car because all V8 cars from 1983-88 had the AOD transmission; those markings are for a C5. Quote Selected
