as in it last about half a second and it's time to shift.

Which is why a lot of turbo guys use the 5.0 tranny with the 3.35 first gear...

this isn't my first 5 speed turbocoupe.  it is, however, my first 3.73 equipped 5 speed turbocoupe.

For shiznits and giggles...

3.72 x 3.45 = 12.834

3.97 x 3.73 = 14.808(quite a difference)

3.97 x 3.55 = 14.093(stock '87-'88 TC and not really enough difference to get excited about))

3.35 x 3.73 = 12.495

3.35 x 2.73 = 9.145(or why you can wind the piss out of first gear in a stock 5.0 Stang)

2.32 x 3.50 = 8.12 (a 428CJ dosen't need all that gear  ratio to get going... BTW I have a 3.00 rear in mine)

ive ran 4.10's and 3.55's and 3.73's

ill give my take on each with a 4.03 first gear T5

4.10 - stock type setup it improves around town drivability and milage as you make more power gears get shorter making it a c to shift.

3.73 - great medium this is what i run in my car currently i stepped down from the 4.10 because of a short first gear and the lack of low end boost responce.

3.55 -great all around gear good balance of milage and takeoff makes first gear pretty long compared to others.
