Going well so far... August 11, 2007, 05:03:21 PM John's over helping me out. Got Layla all apart all ready and cleaned. We'll start re-assembly after lunch. Taking our time, doing it right. The g/f wrote "FREE!!!" on the back window. Definitely agreeing that it might be time to upgrade to car that doesn't need constant attention, you know, like a stock TC. Quote Selected

Going well so far... Reply #3 – August 11, 2007, 05:53:53 PM What did you tear apart? I've been running my modded 84 tc for 3+ years and nothing major. That is after I showed the car that it had no choice but to be my friend. I've had the car 7 years and only driven it 4 of those years. The rest were searching for parts. Quote Selected

Going well so far... Reply #6 – August 11, 2007, 08:32:49 PM Are you running too much boost and/or too much compression? Or were they just py gaskets? Quote Selected

Going well so far... Reply #9 – August 11, 2007, 10:25:10 PM The "original" problem was the ARP head studs kept backing out. I fixed it in under 24 hours, but it blew a day later. I basically rushed the job and got the HG all googed up bad and what-not. Today I Loctited the studs, torqued the nuts 10-30-45-60-95-95, and fixed EVERY single little problem under the hood. No more oil leaks, no more missing bolts, nothing. She runs GREAT! Already boosted 20 psi with NO problems at all. I'm calling this project DONE!John (ThunderCougarFalconGoat) helped me the whole day. I just needed a clear head to tell me to slow down, calm down, and do it right.I am definitely ready to sell this car though. It's met every single goal I've had so it's just not fun, unless I set some new goals. I dunno, I think I just need a TC "break". I've had one continuously since 2001. Quote Selected
Going well so far... Reply #10 – August 11, 2007, 10:29:27 PM Move in the other direction. Take a base car with a V8 and move it toward a TC, adding what you like about TC's and leaving out what you don't like. That's what I've been slowly doing... Quote Selected

Just don't get a Mustang.TED Quote Selected
Going well so far... Reply #13 – August 12, 2007, 11:58:51 AM I was contemplating LS1 swap, but Layla has 180K miles and a ton of $$$, time, and effort into the 2.3T. I would do another TC, but John is already planning an LS1 into his 88TC. Si I think I'll just buy an entire LS1 car. I *really* like 98-02 WS6 Trans Am's... Quote Selected
