gillis vs. turbo xs. August 10, 2007, 09:54:14 AM i figured out why i was never able to boost beyond 15psi...i swapped the gillis valve out for my turbo xs bcv, and i was finally able to go past 15psi. with the current timing, it won't detonate until about 19-20 psi. i set it at 18. it's got a bit more pull in the mid range but that's about it. i need to get the oil leak and the coolant leak fixed, then find some higher octane fuel so i can see what 22 psi will do at the track. Twisted Evilmoral of the story:gillis valve ftl... txs valve ftw. Quote Selected

gillis vs. turbo xs. Reply #10 – August 10, 2007, 03:56:03 PM ive seen 20psi with my low boost spring'd gillis. it wasnt the spring that was the problem...maybe this:Quote from: Gillis FAQs Boost is too low. If no matter how far you screw in the cap and the boost stays at the factory level, there's a chance the ball is not sealing properly inside the valve due to debris or oil contamination. Unscrew the cap and clean inside the valve. Use a solvent that does not leave behind any oily residue. Brake cleaner or isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol works fine. Do NOT use WD40, or carb cleaner both will leave a sticky residue. Quote Selected
