Birdy going bye bye again. (not 56k friendly painted pics PG2)

this time I think it is for sure.  A father just bought it off me for his son for highschool this year.  They loved the test ride, and the colour of the bird.  shook hands and told me he would be back next week with the cash.

I'm gonna miss it.  It was a fun car.:birdsmily:

Soooo......  If you had $3000 cash to throw at my  :cougarsmily: XR-7....  where would it go and what would it be?

Need some ideas.  LOL.

No!!!!!! Don't sell it to a high school kid! He will either crash it or rice it, both are unthinkable!

I learned a LONG time ago if they didn't leave a deposit, chances are maybe 50/50 they'll be back... I've even had them want the deposit back(screw em), generally saying they found something cheaper or they liked better...

One of the strangest though was a guy that looked at a ex Norfolk Police '82 Malibu... Looked at it and listened to it run, but never drove it... Said he was going to the bank to BORROW the money and would be back in a few days... Yea right... Bout a week later he shows up cash in hand, bought the car and loaded it onto a rollback... NEVER drove it...

Would you pay $1200 a ex Police car and never drive it???

a week is a looooooooooooooong time to have second thoughts. i would have got a deposit from the guy. when i sold my 81 coupe, i made out a contract, and the guy gave me a check to hold for one week.

yeah, we will see.  If not then no big deal, I wasn't really serious about selling it anyways.  Hence the high price.  But if I get it.... even better!

i wouldnt take less that $3k for mine either. and that's with it not running. i have over $2k in the motor, $1,500 in the tranny, around $1k in the rearend, plus all the time ive spent on the engine bay/sn95 dash swap/etc.

3k cash? Ideas.........sink most or all of the money in the transmission 1st, then rear end if you have any left over. You'll probably find money for the engine anyway.

That tranny would kick some serious a$$ at the track. It may be doable for under 3k.
That's just what I would do with 3k burning a hole in my pocket.

I wouldn't take any less the 10000 bucks for mine....it might not be worth that much...but that keeps people from asking me how much all the time.:D

Suspension and brakes. Power is nothing without control.

Your car was one of my favorites on here and now some high school kid is gonna go smash it into a tree within a few months.  :(

Ron we need to talk, in say about a week when that cold hard cash is actually burning a whole in your pocket.
Then i'll let ya know what ya need and where to get it.
For starts i'm thinkin cheap A-trim,HO parts(you already have an extra t-5 and swap parts),rear gears and a little suspension.

Sounds good Chris.  I was hoping you were watching this thread. LOL.  I have all the HO parts and T5 stuff already, so I just need the A trim, gears (Have brand new 3.55's but want 4.10's) and suspension.

Ok now I hope he doesn't buy it.  I just spent ALL day wet sanding the orange peel out, then blew on two fresh coats of paint today.  Turned out PERFECT!  figures!  Oh well, at least I can be proud of my accomplishments with the car.  And now I am not affraid to tackle the cougar if I decide to paint it.

That kid will never appreciate that car. You should keep it.
