efi February 08, 2005, 10:04:40 PM What can I do to get the most out of my EFI on '88 TBird 5.0? I want it to run but also like to drive it around town. Quote Selected
Re: efi Reply #1 – February 08, 2005, 10:15:07 PM Simple cheap mods or serious engine work? The latter will almost always necessitate the switch over to a mass air system. Otherwise your limited to bolt-ons. Quote Selected
Re: efi Reply #2 – February 08, 2005, 10:37:57 PM Got another 5.0 motor thinking of carburating it. I intend on building the motor to make it a street racer and was getting ideas on which way will be the best, EFI or carb. I know EFIs can be a handful at times and carbs are a bit more tweak friendly. Quote Selected
Re: efi Reply #3 – February 09, 2005, 12:00:56 AM tweak friendly for those who don't have access to a Tweecer or know how to mess with the computer. but that usually is only necessary when you have forced induction or something major. the mass air system will take a H/C/I swap no problem, but it's usually a good idea to get it tuned when you do such mods Quote Selected
Re: efi Reply #4 – February 09, 2005, 12:17:09 AM EFI is only tough if you're converting a car TO EFI, otherwise it's relatively simple. PS - Street racing is dumb, aside from shwoing a few ricers up now and then, it's a bad habit to get into. You can lose your license pretty quck too. Quote Selected
Re: efi Reply #5 – February 09, 2005, 07:09:21 AM Our street racing is done at Bristol Mortor Speedway. We have drags, burnout contests, slowest time contest. Anybody can enter. I've seen everything from GEOs to 3/4 ton pickups. Its quite fun. Quote Selected
Re: efi Reply #6 – February 09, 2005, 11:58:23 AM Ahh, I stand corrected. By street racing I thought you meant it took place on public streets. Just street rod sort of thing... street/strip cars I take it. Quote Selected
