fuse keeps going out Reply #1 – August 05, 2007, 09:44:38 PM Sounds like you are talking about fuse #6.It goes to: A/C clutch, Rear window defroster, Anti-theft module, Clock, Trunk release, Lamp out warning module, Warning chime module and the cornering lamps. You may not have some of these features. You have to narrow it down. Does the fuse blow if you leave the A/C off?Does it blow when you use the turn signals? Quote Selected
fuse keeps going out Reply #2 – August 06, 2007, 03:09:09 AM softtouch, not while in the lower cycle, would this effect my c.control to. plus i don't have some of those options, the radio makes a tick noise just after it's turned to the higher cycle then the fuse goes out and the radio still plays thanks for the (reply) Quote Selected
fuse keeps going out Reply #3 – August 06, 2007, 09:24:59 AM okwhen you used the phrase "not in the lower cycles" ill assume you mean something having to do with the blower motor setting. Havign said that, fuse 9 and 17 come into play as well being a 30 and a 15 respectively. You may have a very weighted down squirel cage from debris buldup and its bogging down the blower motor. Watch for the error related to fuse 17.so.......................................first trick,, unhook your blower motor connector located behind the glove box and just to the left and see if your fuses continue to blow.but.........................................heres what you need to do First, look at the diagram / pic of the fuse panel posted and tell us "the exact" fuse that blows.from there, and while you are waiting on responses,, remove that fuse and tell us what does not work with the fuse out. I know you said the fuse was blown / blowing but remove it anyway.make a list of whats not working from exterior to interior. next, disconect each circuit thats non functional to your best ability. insert a new fuse and see if it blows. If it does, you do not have all the circuits disconnected that are fused by this one that keeps blowing.if the fuse does not blow after everything this fuse controls is diconnected, start connecting each circuit back up one at a time with a test drive involved. eventually the problem circuit will show itself.Id suggest you stop using fuses and substitute in one of the silver circuit breakers instead. They will heat up and open, then cool off and close again. this will save you time as well as temptation of installing a fuse thats too large once you run out of 20a fuses. Quote Selected

fuse keeps going out Reply #5 – August 06, 2007, 04:48:20 PM Yes fuse #6 also goes to the cruise control module.I am also confused by "higher cycle". Can you tell us what the label on the control actually says?Do you have manual or automatic temperature control?I think my '84 EVTM fuse panel is closer to your car than cassidy's '87. Quote Selected
fuse keeps going out Reply #6 – August 06, 2007, 07:37:41 PM softtouch- what i mean't to say was when the blower is on high or low, i have a manual temp-control. i'm currently checking other options to see if i can locate this power surge. sorry for the goof!!! (mercury-man) Quote Selected
fuse keeps going out Reply #7 – August 06, 2007, 10:39:10 PM Can you confirm that it fuse #6 that is blowing? The blower is on fuse #9 and it is the only thing on fuse #9.The blower and A/C controls are two seperate parts of the same physical switch. It is possible the two parts of the switch are shorted together. fuse keeps going out Reply #11 – August 07, 2007, 11:48:58 AM Move the A/C-Heater Function selector switch off of A/C Norm or Max. Put in on Vent. Can you now run the blower at high speed without blowing the fuse? Quote Selected
fuse keeps going out Reply #12 – August 07, 2007, 04:06:08 PM softtouch- i'll get back to this wed. morning because it's fricking hot outside. i sure could use a cooled garage to be doing this. could this be a bad blower switch or a relay switch!!!! Quote Selected
fuse keeps going out Reply #13 – August 07, 2007, 04:12:44 PM The blower motor should not be blowing fuse #6 no matter how bad it is. It should only blow fuse #9. Quote Selected
