how far have you driven to buy a car?

Just over 900 miles for my 88' XR7 13+ hours one way
300+ for my 86' blue LS 5+ hours one way
100+ for my 86' XR7 turbo cat
I've driven to New Jersey 10+ hours, 600+ miles to look at a couple them also, and when I was in Chicago at my cousins I drove into Michigan to look at one also.

Back about '91,'92, I was going to fly to California from Atlanta and drive my great aunt's 67 Chevelle back from Pasadena to Atlanta. It was 396/powerglide. No A/C, no radio, just your basic car with almost no options. Really low miles, she bought it new but was too old to drive it anymore. Knew I was a car nut, wanted me to have it.
Barry Grant wouldn't let me have a week off to drive it back. :-(((

About an hour for the 87TC and the 07 Stang. Both of those trips were filled with fear. Different for each, but fear nonetheless.

In the TC, the brakes where not all that great. Let's just say panic stopping was not an option. Not my best decision.

In the Stang. First New Car + Rush Hour Traffic + Bad Highway = :(

My dad worked for Delta, so flying was free then. Gas money and hotel was a worthwhile trade to get to see the country. I had never heard of anyone shipping a car then.
Even now I have gotten a couple quotes for a nice Bird seen on ebay, and prices are closer to $2K for this trip.
If I go to Mississippi to pick up a roadrace chassis(510 miles) will that count? :-)))

Farthest I've gone was about 300 miles round trip. Did it twice - my first car in 1990 and my current DD a month ago, both bought in the same town.

I did drive 26 hours to see a concert in October 2005 though...
