TC spindle questions...

To install the TC spindles, isn't it just spindles rotors, calipers and brake lines? Are they the same as a Mustang GT?How much bigger are the brakes? Will I need another master cylender? Will the TC brake lines hook up to the Sport's hard lines? The car is an '88 Sport.

In addition to the parts you mentioned you'll need washers or a spacer to mount your strut to the TC spindle - it's about 1/8" skinnier than the non-TC spindle. The brakes are the same as a Mustang GT except for the ABS sensors on the rotors. You'll need an adapter for one side (left I think) to mount the TC flex line to the Sport hard line. The brakes are 11", compared to your 10" stockers. Might not sound like much but it makes a WORLD of difference. Your stock M/C should be fine unless you do rear discs.

Vinnie I put 88 TC spindles on my 88 cougar.  I changed the struts to GT spec struts while I was under there but Carmen is half right with the size ;) It is 1/8" of an inch per side on the strut if you choose to use your old struts.  Some struts come from the auto part stores with said spacers to fit both applications.

From the junkyard I broke the end of the hard line off and took the fittings with me.  I only had to use one though, the driver side.  I just re flared the hard line with the new fitting.

The mechanic who was going to align my front suspension says that it can't be aligned properly unless the struts are TIGHT on the spindles, or the alignment will constantly change. He says one option is to change to the proper strut and another is to get the correct spacer (he's dead set against using washers). Does anyone know where to get the proper spacers for the struts? I tried Googling but came up empty.

Question #2: do I have to use 87-88 Turbo Coupe-specific struts or are Mustang struts now an option, too? I have KYB's on now and I'm wondering what my options are if I have to change struts.

i would buy struts for 94-04 mustang, or 87-88 TC. i tried using fox stang struts on mine, but they were too short. could have been the aje k-member, though.

Well I did some searching on the NATO board and decided to go with the KYB's they use...which are same type as mine, but made for the Lincoln Mark VII so they have the correct . Cheap, too, around $63 a strut. As far as I can tell from what people were saying, they should bolt up perfectly.

So doing the big brake upgrade with the STang/Turbo coupe spindles we need spacers or new front struts? That kinda sucks. I've got a set of Stange spindles with 5 lug rotors just waiting for the swap.

I used 2 washer (I had laying around) as a spacer for each strut bolt when I did my TC brake upgrade.
