Well u can turbo the 6 if u so want to.
But like a SC u will need to spend money.
Header for turbo and the turbo and so on and so on for all odds and ends.

Also with stock V6 u have to wonder how long it will last with turbo or SC,
U could just spray the V6 with wet kit and around 75 shot and hope all is well and lasts.

So not mater what u do u will need to spend money.
If u have somewer to do most of the work your self and u are able to do this kind of work u will drop the cost of doing stuff down.

If you want to go to the trouble of turbocharging a V6 (and I do mean "trouble", these engines barely stay together in N/A trim) you'd probably be better off finding a 3.8 SC out of an SC or XR7 (or better yet, a whole parts car). Installing a turbo in the car would be a helluva lotta work because there are no kits available for it - everything would have to be custom. I think somebody makes turbo kits for Mustangs, but they have completely different engine bays.

Actually, unless you've got a deep emotional attachment to the car I would recommend selling it and buying a V8 or SC T-Bird or Cougar. Swapping cars is much easier than swapping engines if you're not knowledgeable. There's more to an engine swap or upgrade than just the engine - you'd need a stronger transmission and an 8.8" pumpkin (V8 or SC cars already have these), plus a lot of wiring.

Punctuation anyone?  :wtf:

To be perfectly honest, the 3.8 is not worth modifying if your cheap. You could take the same money required to modify a 3.8 V6 and do a V8 swap and you still would be dissappointed with the V6. Now if you are determined to modify the V6, check it Morana Racing they are the authority when it comes to 3.8's including 4.2 strokers, boosted applications, etc. Dont get me wrong, Im sure a 3.8 could be built nice, but not cheap.

If going the cheap route is your main concern, and you want to go fast cheap, then buy a 87-93 fox body notch mustang and enjoy a plethora of aftermarket parts. If being different is your goal, like many on this board, then be prepared to shell out some cash.

Try http://www.tccoa.com They know way more about MN-12's then we do. There is one guy who put a turbo on his Thunderbird, his screen name is Sir William.

yeah, he used a setup where the turbo is actually under the car, somewhere towards the gas tank...

right now, there are people developing a turbo kit for the SC's, where you remove the blower, tubing and lower intake, use an N/A intake manifold, and turbo it from there, but i dont knwo where development is on it

as for turboing a 3.8, i wouldnt do it, and im a big fan of the 3.8, it would cost much more than a V8 swap, the turbo alone could be around 600 bucks for your application, then youll need headers made, all the tubing, then all the support items (injectors, MAF, fuel pump etc.)

stick with the V8 swap
It's Gumby's fault.
