So... What did you do yesterday?

I Don't know about you, but I personally had one of the coolest experiences of my life. Just as a setup, i've been a pretty big fan of Indy Car/IRL and open wheel racing in general for quite a while now, I've also been lucky enough to go the Indy 500 for the past 2 years. So, on Tuesday I read that the Indy Car series was going to be doing their testing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and it was going to open to the public. For 10 bucks there was no way I was going to let this pass by. Subsequently I was rewarded with the opportunity to meet, and get autographs and photos with the drivers. While I didn't get a chance to meet all of them, I did catch "most" of the 500 winners. By far this was one of the most awesome things I've ever been able to do!

Here are just a couple of the pics that I got. (Notice the last pic... that's about as close as I was able to get :hick: .)

That's awesome!
I've always been a big Nascar fan personally.
Sure the arguments can go on about the cars and blah blah blah but the drivers are what really make the difference. When they take the time to stop and sign an autograph or even talk to you for a minute it's enough to make your day. I've been able to do a lot of cool things over the years. I've met nearly every driver to compete between 1993 and 2000 but there was one thing that was by far the coolest.

I visited Hendrick Motorsports back in 1994 and while I was in Ken Schrader's shop, one of the workers let me get into a car they were working on and fired it up. I was 9 years old and nothing that year made me happier.

Yup, and unfortunately for that remark we are going to have to suspend your "Manhood" license for 90 days ;) ;) !!!

You should check out the Cart series race at the Burke Lakefront Airport. I usually go every year, but I am not able to go this year.

Actually I have gone to that race (although 3 years ago). It's what gave me the bug to want to go to Indy. There are a few good names in that league as well. And just as a side note, CART is now called Champ Car World Series.

Not quite, I was within like a foot of her, but understandably her priority was the younger folk. Kinda hard to get any attention when there are 20 other people around looking for the same thing. I did however, as i was leaving, see her a while later standing outside of a motor coach. But my friend and I both agreed that it wouldn't have been polite to go lumbering up and asking for things at that point in time.
