Bad Oil Change

This isn't about my Cougar; although, it's a focus. We (Valvoline) changed The oil, on the focus. Moments later she cruises back, suggesting it was our fault her car has poor acceleration and boggsdown. After inspection, we gave her another oil change. Moments later the owners father drives in and stated her car brokedown. Could a wrong size filter been the problem, cause I remember seeing the used gasket on the old filter? Or trying to get free repairs to an existing problem?

What does any of this have to do with an oil change?  Unless you disconnected something while you were in there.

probably just trying to get you to fix a existing problem. I don't think a bad oil change would kill a car, and did they say there was a puddle under the car?

unless you over filled the oil i cant see a simple oil change doing anything

I welcomed the dark side and currently am driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT plus, with a 5.9, Code named project "Night Runner"
Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.
Mods to come: Fully rebuilt and heavily modded 46RE, and a richmond rachet locker.

We used to see shiznit like that all the time. "You changed my oil last week, now my transmission's slipping", "You fixed my power window and now the radio doesn't work", 'You rotated my tires and now my car burns oil"...

Just some yahoo trying to get something fixed for nothing. Unless the car's engine seized up or it has no oil pressure it'd be a long shot to blame it on the oil change...

The one time I took my T-bird to an oil change facility, it refused to start for them. Corrosion on the negative battery terminal.

Coincidence - Yes.
Sign that I should never let anyone else work on my car - Yes.

I used to work at an oil change place. One time we had a car in for some work and after the work it would not start. Turned out the fuel pump died. Then i did an oil change on an old truck and i cross referenced the filter and then like 8 months later they called the dealership and said the engine blew up cause it had the wrong oil filter on. Well i went back to the oil filter book and looked again and it had listed 2 different filters as the right one. Unfortunately I got fired for saying i didn't care how many cars i worked on before i found out what happened with that deal. :dunno:

I get that type of stuff at the parts store. You sold me an alternator and now my clutch is slipping! Are you sure you got me the right alt? Sounds to me like they are trying to scam you.  I would make sure the oil is full and check oil pressure. Also make sure there aren't any leaks. That is about it. I will point out that in truck/SUV appliactions it seems to make a difference in the oil filter if it is 4X4 or 2X4. Same filter just one it longer.  Don't know what difference that would make.Other than if the long filter helps you when you are tilted not flat.  But I love the guys that want stuff for a 350. I ask what year and they say "they are all the same"  I say"OK" and run and get them the ones for the newer style. Then they are "these aren't right". I say " But Sir they are for a 350, I guess they aren't all the same."  LOL

My 4X4 f150 has an oil cooler on it, mounted right by the front bumper, and since there is "extra" room, it uses a longer oil filter, this also allows the the oil to stay in the filter longer and cool off. Thats how it was explained to me anyhow.

Asked the Asst. manager about the situation, Corporate decided it wasn't Valvolines fault. They didn't get their free ride... but if you get one now and then it is kinda nice. lol
