I ACTUALLY raced a TC for once!!

John and I got his 88 TC running finally (Deuce, the primered one). He bought it in January for $1100 and it came with a parts car and a seized IHI. Since John had a .63/.60 water-cooled T3 from a old TC project, we decided to go ahead and slap it on. It's 100% bone stock 88 TC down to a paper air filter except for:
86 TC .63/.60 water-cooled T3
fully ported E6
EGR delete
Gillis Boostvalve
Optima Red-Top
4 mis-matched tires

We had to run it with no IC, so think of it as a slightly heavier 86 TC. :D It's actually really bizarrly optioned. Other then the "standard" TC option group (Single power seat, dome light, c-pillar lights, trunk/fuel poppers, power windows, power mirrors) it has the factory power moonroof, and dual illuminated visors. Not a single other option, not even Premium Sound.

Anyways, we brought it to PIR in Portland (with my pickup, a box of tools, and some tow straps :D ) for a little fun. Made 8 passes and got down to 15.686@86.63 with a 2.190 60'. Not bad! It did MPH at 87 twice (87.48 best) but we blew it with lousy 2.3xx 60's. On the last pass I launched a 2.179 60' and it was flat-out moving before the tranny broke. It wouldn't go into 3rd and now 1st and reverse grind bad (3rd is fine). It might be out of fluid. Oh well, it made it home under it's own power so mission accomplished! John and I actually had a great race against one-another, he cut an .070, except I schooled him with a .005 :D He still beat me (15.7 to an 18.6) but it was a lot of fun for us to actually race each other like that for once.

A little proof of it ACTUALLY being there ;)

The 2 best timeslips. 1476C is John's #, 15C is mine (the pickup)

And just because I finally have a pic, the truck racing :D It's made over 100 passes now. Down to 2.3 60's last night too :D

good job, looks like ya had fun. not far off of my time, ill be back at the track a week next Friday and ill see if i can get into a low 15 second run, your 60 was better then mine but were i pulled on you was second gear up to the 1/8 Mile mark when i compared your slip with mine, probably because the air box on the TC with a stock panel filter is so restrictive, nonetheless thats a impressive run considering you have 4 mismatched tires on it.

Not that it really maters, but what did that silver Nissan Titan run? I never got to run mine on a track so I am just curious.

You should get some inexpensive drag radials for the truck just to see what it can muster out.

I never saw the Titan run so I dunno?

My truck goes 18.30x's @ 72 and change in 2WD. 30" tall mud tires don't really work that well...

I've been looking for a set of factory stamped steel 15x7s to mount on SHORT tires just for racing. I have to watch ground clearance on my traction bars though...
