Oil light May 07, 2007, 07:46:59 AM has anyone seen the oil light come on after the car is turned off? if so, what does this mean? i checked the oil and it has plenty. Quote Selected

Oil light Reply #2 – May 07, 2007, 08:51:34 AM it was changed about a month and a half ago, I have never seen an Oil light come on after the car has been shut off and stay on. it was on this morning when i went out to start it.i noticed it yesterday. what kind of sensor could do that? oh, and it's an 86 with a 302. Oil light Reply #4 – May 07, 2007, 09:43:32 AM If the light is staying on with the car not running and the key not in the ignition...replace your ignition switch. If the light is still on and teh engine is running fine, replace the oil pressure sensor. Quote Selected
Oil light Reply #5 – May 07, 2007, 09:44:34 AM I agree with ipsd (*EDIT* and Chuck, he must have hit reply seconds before I did) - a bad ignition switch could cause that. If the oil light is coming on with the engine not running and the key out, about the only thing you can be sure of is that the oil isn't the problem. Quote Selected
