Pay bills first.,,,,
only one problem with that though,,,,
your gonna always have bills so why not enjoy a little bit of your spare cash.  There was a day when id never give out advice like this but ive become more calm about money lately.

Id figure on the engine first cause thats what really matters on the front end.  If you need a real good contact on 5.0 ho engines down there, my brother-in-law is near you.  Nice fellow and works at the Dayna Plant.  leme know email.

The only thing is that I had really hoped to be able to do something to the car before Cat Jam this year. I keep the old Cougar clean but it just looks tired.

Hey Jim, how about like 50/50 between the debt/goodies. And if you're worried about not bringing anything new to CJ this year, just look over at the next parking spot to my Cougar in all its glory

As for projects, I'd go with the suspension/bushing stuff. My logic is, do engine stuff before paint (Murphy's Law states you'll always find some way to ruin a new paint job...especially while trying to cram in a new engine). But since engine work costs lots of dough and disables the car for long periods, I'd go with the bushings, etc. option. Seems like the cheapest route with almost immediate gratification.

Yup, I'd say #1 debt, #2 Suspension, # 3 Engine and last #4 the paint.

Speaking from my own experience, you pull that engine and put another one in, you are going to become tempted to do a lot more because that empty engine bay tempts you to "do a few more things" as it would be more difficult when the engine is back in. All this means is the estimated bill to complettion ends up being higher than originally planned.  If your current engine still has life, stay with it a while longer!

get rid of the debt, that way you can save up more money without all that intrest building up and get all 3 things done on your bird!

You WILL be able to save more money if you get rid of debt.
