tommym Reply #31 – March 18, 2007, 02:28:26 PM Well, I kinda meant how did I miss this thread but that's ok. :)Did you lower it? If so, what did you do? I hope you don't mind me adding this pic to the wheel thread. http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=118980Oh, and welcome. Quote Selected
tommym Reply #32 – March 18, 2007, 04:41:56 PM The car is about 1 1/2" lower than my Sport. This was done by the original owner. Rides like my truck but I like it. It's low enough that I have to be careful on driveways. Setting as low as it is the exhaust makes a good sound system unnecessary. I installed KYB Struts and Monroe Gas Magnum shocks and dampners. It has no lean in the corners and the F-1's do not slide. No problem with the picture. Quote Selected
tommym Reply #33 – March 19, 2007, 04:42:07 PM The wifey wants me to "Talk" to people that have already done the E-85 conversion to get "Real Life" info instead of reading all the info I can from the web. As far as electronics go, I've been going back and forth between running a carb and an Ignition control moduel, that would simplify the process quite a bit, and running a 94 - 95 T-bird harness with a reprogrammed computer. I also have a friend that's the service manager at the local Lincoln/Mercury dealership and he gave a copy of the engine wiring and related systems that I'll need. He's also trying to locat some C O P's and their valve covers. I hope to have it running by next spring. Maybe not the interior done, but at least be able to drive it around a bit. Quote Selected
tommym Reply #34 – March 20, 2007, 12:02:06 AM Hi John- How would using a carb on a new style motor in an older car look for smog? I'm pretty sure Ford was going to make their 5.0 Cammer motor available with a carb setup. I'm pretty sure it's an 11 1/2 to 1 motor based on the 4.6. I doubt if you would want to drive it around here, in traffic, during the summer. Smogging the truck is a shoot. Just went through it. Took 3 trys. It would never pass the visual check in San Diego, (my former home). The former motor in the truck was a 351, balanced, 30 over, 58cc Australian heads, 750 Holly, and the cooling system from Hell and I would have to pull off the road and shut it off if I was stopped in traffic. The motor in the pictures is a 400, tons of fancy headwork, 30 over, block cut 90, intake cut to match, forged pistons, rods, balanced, TCI kitted C-6 with 373 gears. It doesn't like traffic either but Loves premium gas. It does not have to look good to be quick. Quote Selected
tommym Reply #35 – March 20, 2007, 12:07:39 PM Tommy, I found an outlet for an aluminum triple pass radiator. I was figuring that with using the triple pass rad/ mezier electric water pump/ dual variable speed puller fans with shroud, it should take care of the heat issue. It will definitly be a challenge to get that setup to pass the visual inspection. If I go that route, I plan on using stand-alone wideban o2sensors so I can keep an eye on the A/F ratio. Quick Fuel Technology has a 750 cfm, E-85 performance carb. I'm going to check it out to get the specifics about it. Can't hurt to look, 105-octane ............. hmmmmmm Quote Selected

tommym Reply #37 – March 21, 2007, 09:47:18 AM Uhhh, checked out that Quick fuel carb......... WAY too expensive right now. It check's in at $750. I think I'll get myself a 96' - 98' stock cobra intake and go that route. The wife wanted to know approximately how much going the carb route would be, carb $750; Sullivan intake $650 - $700; C style heads (good used set)approx $600; that's not counting head gaskets, bolts, some other misc items. :( Might be easier, but not cheaper.
