tommym Reply #17 – March 15, 2007, 09:28:17 PM Thanks for the kind words. The car mostly sits, my fiance is afraid of it, or me if something happens to it. The swap was the worst kind- it was butchered by a Ford mechanic. My 87 Sport, (original owner), was my donor car after it was T-boned. Yes, my fiance was driving. All the wiring is from the sport. All sensors, relays, are new. I also replaced everything that bolts to or runs off the engine. The only original piece is the engine block. I wanted to keep the car kind of stock looking. The only change I will eventually make is replacing the motor with Ford's 345hp 302 and maybe add a super charger. Thanks again. (Seat covers are because my fiance has a habit of spilling things). tommym Reply #21 – March 16, 2007, 02:49:35 PM I've been an admirer of Roger Penske for years, also a fan of Rusty Wallace. My fiance has become a fan since she started hanging around with me- NHRA & NASCAR. I don't know of any cars like this in Las Vegas and it's nice to share with people who appreciate the ammount of work that goes into one of these cars. Thanks for the kind words. Quote Selected
tommym Reply #22 – March 17, 2007, 02:34:20 PM Tommy, That is a gorgeous looking car!!! Very clean engine bay!! It looks like it just rolled of the show room floor. In 2 years, the wife, son and I will be moving to the Vegas area. She's in nursing and I'm into whatever :D It would be nice to hang out with another Fox Bird out there, as most people I've talked to on another site (in the Vegas area), has mainly the MN-12 bird's. Enjoy the site and particularly your beautiful car!John Quote Selected
tommym Reply #23 – March 17, 2007, 06:09:16 PM Thanks for the compliments John. Your wife will not have a problem finding work out here but housing prices have climbed out of sight. Thought about buying one of those MN-12's once, rented it for a week, drove it to San Diego, never thought about buying one again. Be glad to have you out here and we can get together. I added a couple of pictures of the motor in my 79 F-250 on that photobucket site. Quote Selected
tommym Reply #25 – March 17, 2007, 07:55:09 PM Thank You. This is the motor I wanted to put in the TC but I'd never be able to smog it. The visual test might be a problem also. Quote Selected

tommym Reply #27 – March 18, 2007, 08:10:18 AM tommym, we actually will be looking for some property just out of the city itself. The guys I've talked to there in the NV chapter are a bunch of good guys. Very nice peoples indeed :) Ya, we noticed the prices are going thru the roof Oh well. So how much trouble did you have getting your car thru the emission testing?? My engine won't be modified, other than possibly the intake, and I'll have cats. I'm thinking about converting it to use E-85, since I'm replacing all the fuel lines, pump and related parts anyway.I likey the 79 P/U too :D Beautiful !! Quote Selected
tommym Reply #28 – March 18, 2007, 01:48:51 PM The guy I bought the car from,(Ford Mechanic?), somehow got it smogged originally. The cert showed 4cyl and when I got the car EGR,thermactor,TAD,TAB were not connected so I would say he might have cheated. Anyway, I kept the insurance up while the car was parked but let the registration lapse. The engine is newer than the car with all smog equipment working. When I went to re-register it I just told them it was being re-built and showed them the insurance papers-no problem. To smog it the guy was confused- the car is a "W" code but he was looking at a V-8. It smogs just like a new car. I was looking at your car-quite a project. How hard is it to work with the 4.6? The electronics has got to be a nightmare. The only way I was able to figure out what the original idiot did was because I have the factory schematics and EVTM that I ordered with my Sport. I still have work I want to do-like stiffen the frame, intake, ignition and maybe in the future swap the motor out to Fords 345hp 302. I've owned enough cars that were not very streetable or legal and I was constantly working on them. The E85 conversion I know very little about. Out here it cost about .20 less than premium and I've heard you get 30% less milage. I used to run alchol injection on my 69 Roadrunner. The truck surprises alot of people and is difficult to smog but I like "different". Quote Selected
