my brother is having a problem with the front end vibrating in his escort at about 75. comes back though the steering wheel. One tie rod end was replaced not long ago, could it be the other one? bad bushings? wheel bearings? he refuses to go to a shop cause he has no money, so im left to figure it out:beatyoass:

how would i go about doing that (have no prior experience with front wheel drive suspension) look for play? i know what and where they are before someone asks

Tire balance , Incorrectly torqed wheel pattern, Bent wheel (s), incorrect alighment. pick on and run with it

my brother had the same prob in his 93 gt. as soon as he pulled the driver side cv joint out, bearings fell everywhere.

I saw the title of this thread and first thought it had something to do with- nevermind.

My first guess would be tire balance. Have any snow or ice build-up inside the wheel?

it started awhile ago would do it at about 85 now its getting worse

On an escort its likely a wheel bearing. They are the sealed cartridge type and only cost about $22 Canadian up here. If the escort is a 2.3L with the ATX trans., wheel bearings are far more common then CV joint failures, as the axles in those cars interchange with the V6 tempo/topaz, so they are fairly strong.

Also a ****ed up wheel (balancing, torquing, bent) would do the same thing. But I'd check the bearing first.

1.9l and i think its the wheel bearings cause it makes no clunks, or other noises associated with a bad cv joint

Has he been road racing? Those Escorts are fun to drive especially the cosworth.. Make sure his tires are good. You know a broken belt on a front tire might not be readily observable. I've had the car sit on the broken part, that part of the tire was contacting the ground while inspecting it. :rolleyes:

road racing that thing lol no it is to slow, its bearings somewhere cause its getting progressively worse
