question about ford rangers

Ok the newer v6 rangers have the ford taurus v6 in them right? Does anyone know if a taurus SHO motor would bolt in to one of those rangers? Cause i can pick up a SHO with a blown trans for like 2-300 bucks, and if i could make a nasty ranger with it id love to, at least with the v6 it would have good gas milage, i could have my mustang for fun, and the summer, and the ranger for winter. Thanks guys

The short answer is no.  I'm about 90% sure that the V6 SHO (89-95) engine and trannies were completely exclusive.  I think Chuck can chime in with a better answer than that, though.

i know the trans on it was different, but i think the short block was the same, and yamaha only re did the top end of the motor. I could be wrong, and yea im waiting for chuck, cause i know hes been working with a sho engine

I think the shortblock was completely different - the regular Taurus engine was a pushrod 3.0 "Vulcan" V6 (same as Ranger), while the SHO was a DOHC V6.

It is not going to be a drop in.

Yes you can get a RWD trans to bolt up, but there's going to be alot of fab work to get it into the engine bay, everything pointing the correct direction and getting it all hooked up.

shiznit if i can get it in the i got no problem. i have 2 and a hlaf years left to high school, and im gonna go to wyotech. Building shiznit is what i do. Now i just need to get the sho take what i need, and part it out, buy a ranger and begin, one more question, would the sho rims bolt to the ranger? cause the sho has 2 brand new yokahama tires, and it would be ince to trhow those rims on the truck

Questions is how you learn. Why not just take the tires off and put on the truck wheels? Or are they different wheel sizes?

the sho wheels are WIDE and i really don't think the stock rangers wheels are anywhere near the correct size, and questions are how ive been learning for 16 years, cars are my passion, and one thing i get alot of enjoyment from

Thats why you belong here. How WIDE are they? I'm just running "small" 225-60-15's on 10 holes for my car. You talking 8" or wider?
