how would a 4.6 fit into a tbird isnt the 5 o and 4.6 based on the same block

Yes a 4.6 will fit in a T-bird. It takes some work but it will fit.

On the other hand a 4.6 is in no way similar to a 5.0 except that they both have 8 cylinders. A 4.6 is a modern OHC engine introduced in the 1991 Lincoln Towncar. The 5.0 (302) is a Windsor V8 that is OHV and was first introduced in the early 1960s with a 221 ci displacement. The family includes engines with 221, 260, 289, 302 and 351 cubic inch displacements.

If you've read the article, he has just started the body work and such, on page 4 for you can see him making brackets and the such to mount stuff into the fox.

It is not totally finished.

you know, i just had a guy ask if i wanted to trade a 4.6 for my 5.0. i dunno what shape the 4.6 is in, but mine isnt really all that great. my rings have gone bad and such... but putting a 4.6 in the bird looks like a LOT of work. to much for me anyway.

ya but the low end on the 4.6 is definetly something to look at the 5.0 is to high of a revver for me

Actually from what I read it is almost a direct swap, the only reason it takes time is that people do body work and the such.

quite the opposite realy. if a 5.0 revs too high for you a 4.6 (specially the dohc) is a MUCH higher revving engine so it likely wont be for you. i shift mine at over 7200rpm. they they have a steep torque curve, they dont make much low end power. the 5.0s are much torquier down low. they have a much more linear torque curve...

um, no. unfortunately its a pretty involved swap. id love to see more of these done around here...
