personally, i realy want to go with a turbo. ill more than likely end up using a supercharger though. seems i can find better deals on them. the 2 major turbo kits (HP twins or Hellion) for my car require tubular k members and coil overs so that bumps the cost up alot. the turbo kits are expensive, but i belive can be controled better and are more efficient. neet too. ive been looking at an ATI P1SC procharger locally and think ill end up with that. they are nice little blowers. i like the prochargers for there self contained units. you are going to need to know how much power you want, how much cash you want to spend and then what your personal prefferance is. you cant go wrong either way. id think a decent turbo setup would be more expensive. also, there is alot more junk turbo parts/vendors to watch out for.

Turbocharger technology has come so far in the past ten or so years that their superiority is almost undeniable.

They are easier on parts (no crankshafts to bend and bearings to trash or belts to throw) and it is easy to tune the airflow to deliver exactly the power you want, exactly when it is appropriate.  With a modern turbo, even a big one, the bearings are so good that there really is no "turbo lag" to speak of.

They're more expensive and complex, but they sure do work.  Don't get me wrong, superchargers are great too.

I remember about 5 years ago, I ran this kid in a 5.0 notch Stang that had a twin turbo setup. I beat him to the 330ft mark, but then he came by me like my $hit had cut off... Went a mid 11 @ 121mph !!!! Made my 13.2 @ 104 look sick...

Turbos do pour on the mph, no doubt. The turbo is a superior power adder but unless it is part of a packaged buy, there is a considerable amount of install time and fabrication to consider. Unless you or someone whos willing to help you has the fab skills and a good working knowledge of how to bring it all together the supercharger will go on easier and quicker.

On the topic of superchargers I've used mostly Vortech myself and been very happy with their rock solid reliability, packaging in the engine compartment, and power gains.

Living in FL though, with the 320 days a year of heat and humidity we get means that serious intercooling is the order of the day or you WILL rattle your engine.

For that reason, my preferred power adder is nitrous, preferably with an already strong engine.

If I could spend the money plus some extra for a strong enough transmission WITH overdrive while at the same time not getting murdered by my loving wife, I'd get this.......http://www.hellionpowersystems.com/kit_86_93.php

No, he meant turbos pour on MPH, as in, they add liberal amounts of MPH to the speedometer and timeslip.

Got a vortech on mine and it goes like hell above 3000rpm,if i had to do it again i would go kennebell due to the instant boost on my heavy car.
But the price differance between the 2 is about 1000.00 dollars and that's why i started with a vortech.

Both are good Poweradders.  But bang for the buck the N20 is the cheapest route.

Chose the HP level and the amount of money you have to spend.

If you want to buy a turbo kit let me know and I can get you a price for a kit.

I have a twin turbo setup on my 5.0 bird and the rpm torque curve is unreal. But no matter how you make your boost the most expensive part will be the electronics to get it all to run together.

I think they both have pros and cons over each other.  From the way I understand it turbos take a bit to build the PSI up then shoot you like someone stuck a rocket in the back of your car. if its a very short race  I wouldnt think that would be very good.  Superchargers add alot and have the power all the time from my understanding but you have added pressure on the crank and stuff and change of belt failure like someone already stated.
Superchargers require less work to install appearently which is a plus.
never seen a twin supercharger setup though where I have seen twin turbo.
easiest way.... flip a coin.

i know once my engine gets rebuilt im going with a turbo because you can control the hp with a computer. i also just like the way they are set up with all the shiny pipes and all. i also LOVE  the blow off valve sound!

im going to create a supercharger/turbo someday. the supercharger will give that torque right away, and the turbo part will pull hard in high RPM's. im going to be freakin rich

I'm partial to turbos myself :)

However you can't beat the kind of bottom end grunt that a screw or roots supercharger can give you. If I were putting a supercharger on a vehicle I think that's the only kind I'd get. Centrifugal superchargers perform just like turbos except that you have all the downsides of a supercharger and none of the pluses of a turbo.
