Previous owner told me my car had no structural rust either... guess what... rust on strut towers and around the gas tank area and in the floor pans. I didn't see it at first until I started taking things apart. Not as bad as the 88TC but it's bad enough to make me reconcider getting coilovers.  And if I bought another one this one would be going to the ser just like the 88.

Why?

I have no room for it.

I did the parting out of nearly everything I could and I will prolly never do it again. It sucked. I was selling at or near cost to ship and ppl were wanting this little thing and that little thing and it was very time consuming. Not to mention the neighbors don't like stripped cars sitting in the driveway.

Why should he have to tell the previous owner what he's going to do with something he bought? He obviously did not want the vehicle either.

You sir are in the business of storing and selling TC parts, we are not. Try keeping that in mind will yah.

...because your starting to become an ass about this whole thing.

Guy didn't even tell him he was going to strip it. $5 says that stupid Chevy pickup he HAD to have the trailer for has more rust.

IIRC he bought the car just to part it out..

Looks to me like the seller knew:dunno:.

And that Chevy might have been rustier (have never seen it, so don't know), but I'd bet $5 that it's still worth more that that TC in ANY shape, has a larger following, and that he can actually buy new parts to restore it...

Look at it this way, Mike: Your parts just became that much more valuable. And just think about the guys that live in southern states - if they want parts they pretty much HAVE to strip rust free vehicles. If they dent a fender, a rust free car has to give up a fender. Shoot, I'd bet Tom has sent prettier ones than that to the syard.

I can sort of see why you're upset - I am absoluetly in love with the Volvo P1800, and they are very rare (and valuable, a leg up on our cars), so imagine my disappointment when I saw a beautiful example at a nearby Volvo specialist's place, and stopped in to ask about it. He told me he was cutting it up. I couldn't believe it - the car was pristine. The car was purchased in California and brought into Canada by a group of P1800 owners, and they needed parts. Parts for those are even harder to find than for our cars, so they made the only choice they could - they bought one, parted it out, and all made their cars better by the sacrifice of one. I still see the front clip (fenders, hood, nose, bumper) of that car all still bolted together, sitting on top of an overturned 240 in his small s yard every time I drive by his shop (which is on the route to the city from my new house, so it's often...)

And Mike after your string of reply's it makes you that much more of a Prick that no one would (should) want to buy anything off of.

You guys can bust his balls all you want about his not saving this and that, but the facts are these:
  • He has an '86, so none of the glass, or the doors, or the fenders, or the trim, would fit his car
  • He could have offered up most of those parts here in the For Sale section absolutely free and even then it's likely nobody would have taken them. Shipping glass is risky, and shipping doors is extremely expensive.
  • He very likely has something better to do with his time than to strip off parts he can't use, only to be nickel-and-dimed to death when he tried to sell 'em
  • He likely has better things to do with the space those parts would have taken up in his garage or basp00get
It's simple. He bought a parts car, took what he needed/wanted, then got rid of the rest. Nothin' wrong with that...

Amen, brother! I totally agree for every reason you listed. When you've got a car on blocks on the side of the house and limited garage space there's only so long you can keep it around... Especially if you want to stay married, lol.

It's a good thing I cant post pics of the (rust free) TC that I sent to the wrecking yard... It still had all the glass, trim, running engine and good 5 speed. I even forgot to pull the tail lights, doh! But that's about it. Everything else got used on my 87. I do wish I had pulled the side and rear glass and tail lights becase since then I've had to replace a tail light ($120) and a passenger side window ($35).

At least at the wrecking yard it still had a chance of being parted further.

You're the biggest prick on this board.:shakeass:

And yeah, that 69 C10 is worth more then any TC or fox TBird, but there's at least 7 of them on my street, dime a frickin dozen.:dunce:

Point is, waste sucks. We all drive old cars because they still have life in them. How many cars are in the JY just because their owners bought a new one and wanted the "trash" thrown out? Wasting a perfectly good, running, driving car is pointless no matter what kind of car it is. He put the pictures up, he should expect a backlash.:beatyoass:

That reminds me. I recently found an old-school Bonneville SSEi at the junkyard. It hadn't been wrecked or anything, and it was FULLY loaded. It even had the million-button steering wheel and power moonroof.
Somebody had already yanked the engine and transmission, though. I assume it had the supercharged 3800 in it.

You can't save em all.

Do the best with what you got and don't worry about what others are doing with theirs.  Trust me, I think some of you have ruined the cars you're driving :beatyoass:  but that's just my opinion. :D  I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way about mine...

Previous owner feeling sorrow. :sniff: I know we can't save them all, but this one should've never left.

Ok, I think this one has run its course, and like so many others, it has degenerated into name calling and insults. Time to go bye-bye before it gets even worse...:locked:
