How long can a tire sit flat before damage occurs? October 18, 2006, 11:00:03 PM I got some new snow tires mounted for my Tempo the other day, and put them on the car Monday. One of the tires was low before I even put it on the car so I suspected a leak, but I aired it up and put it on anyway to see. Well, my mom called tonight and said that tire is completely flat, so I assume it's probably been flat since late monday night or early tuesday morning. The car is currently 40 minutes away, I could go home tomorrow and get it, or I could wait til friday...should I just do it tomorrow to be safe? I don't want to ruin a brand new tire... How long can a tire sit flat before damage occurs? Reply #2 – October 18, 2006, 11:11:35 PM A few days won't make any difference at all. Just don't move the car, not even a few feet, untill you air it up: or else the tire shop will blame you for neglect when you try and return the py new tires that don;t hold air.I pulled one tire off the rim on my tempo the other day, when the bead needed to be resealed, and it had 14 (not a typo) plugs in it, and did not leak at all. Kinda look like a porcupine inside :) Quote Selected
How long can a tire sit flat before damage occurs? Reply #3 – October 18, 2006, 11:11:36 PM Hell, I might just go get it tomorrow anyway. I get off work at 3, don't have anything to do til 7:30...and that way I can get the tire fixed on Friday after I get off work. Quote Selected
