Trans going out

I have a 5.0 AOD with a floor shifter and my trans is going out.The only trans I can find are column shift. Will it work in my car? Or what can I swap with.I went to Car-Part.com And show that these trans come from T-Bird & Cougars only. What source can I use?
Thanks

I think you have to flip the shift lever on the tranny upside down for it to work coloumn-floor shift

100% correct.

You need to drop the trans pan and loosen 7/8" nut and rotate shift lever 180*.

I had a feeling something had to be switched. So that means that park on the floor shift is low on the coloumn and thats way I will flip it 180*.
 Thanks alot.

colum pulls from the front, stick pulls from the rear.
You can make it work.
