What kind of tires are you running?

Im looking to see what looks best on a turbine right now i have a couple tacular 215/70's that dont look quite right..

so wutcha got your cat/ bird runnin on?

Right now my turbines are on my Escort GT, the fronts are 205/60's, while the backs are 215/55's...
it makes the EGT look mean as hell...no pics right now...

yeah on your car the 225/60/15 is about rite, actualy i think its one of the sizes your sopposed to use if you have a 15" wheel acording to the door sticker. you can push it up to like a 235 wide but i dont know how much wider i'd go on them without em looking odd. rember, its only like a what? 7" wide wheel?

Running 235/60/15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. They give it a really aggresive stance, but make it feel kind'a driffty on the road. I don't do alot of "performance" driving with my 88' Cougar, like trying to hang in the curves at high speed or anything, so I except the look over driving performance.

I have a set of Turbines that I run on my car when I want a change of pace from the stock 10 holes. They came off of a 1990 Mustang GT and still have their original 225/60VR-15 Goodyear Gatorbacks. For me they look "right". I have seen some others with 235's and even some 245's on their 15x7's and to me they bulge out too much for my tastes. Of course, no offense to those that are running them, to each his own.

mine are pretty worn, they may be original, though maybe not, 116k miles on the car. but im sure theyre the stock size. im sure this isnt helpful but i HAD to post that i have the stock tires.

I was able to squeeze 41,000 miles out of the O.E. Gatorbacks and they were stating to show some steel belts at the edges. :eek:
You can tell if the tires are are original to the car by checking the date code on tire.

As an example, this tire has a date code of "387" which means it was made on the 38th week of 1987.

Put 225/60's on it and be done.

You don't want to go any wider on that 7" wide wheel.

Get something V-rated or higher as well.

I found some 225/60/15s for mine. They are Cooper Cobra GTs.
After messing with different size tires in the past and worrying about the accuracy of my speedometer, I decided to go with the stock size.

I had 235s on the back with no problems/ bulging whatever.
I've since swapped them out with 225's all the way around.
225/60-15 is the tire that is supposed to go on turbines.
BFG Radial T/A's look nice but wear quickly and traction sucks
I have BFG Traction T/A's on there now and they made a world of difference.
